The Day I Shot Jesus: Chapter 5

About 8 feet before we entered the building, I was irresistibly drawn to a beautiful phenomenon on the right side of the hotel. Its a scene I had seen too many times since the Lord retuned to earth to rule it. Its a scene that sends a poetic message to every fibre of my being each time I see it. I had seen it countless times before but it brings tears to my eyes each and every single time. As Folu handed me yet another handkerchief, I stared with teary eyes at the scene that seemed to distract me for a moment. Asking for forgiveness once again for wasting John’s time, I watched 3 animals that played together on the green field just 15 feet from the hotel’s entrance. A lion, a zebra & a lamb cuddled each other while eating what seemed to be their dinner: grass

The scene reminded me of my beloved pet in my Akonko residence. In 2098 I had gotten a Siberian tiger on one of my visits to Baku, Azerbaijan. Though the then-276kg-6-year-old was considered a toddler, Ofufu (as I called him) was a cat whose nature reminded me of my father: gentle, forgiving & unconditionally loving. These were attributes that could not have been mentioned when talking about "wild" animals before our Lord’s return.

Apparently the physical presence of Jesus on the planet heralded a change in the nature of animals that were previously considered as wild. Apparently the wildness of their nature was one of the consequences of Adam’s disobedience in Eden. [Talking of Adam, its been about 5 months since we chatted via webogram. Note to self: call Adam when you're done with Jesus' session]. Apparently quite a number of animals had returned to eating grass, green leaves and fruits. Apparently this lion was no different and their new diet also resulted to them living longer than their pre-rapture colleagues.

I would later discover that the hotel had about 13 different lions lurking around the premises of the hotel. The most beautiful of the lions was one that was pink in colour. Never in my life had I imagine I would see a yellow lion. I smiled and blessed God for the privilege to be among the living that would witness such a beauty.

We entered the 100-square-metres lobby of the hotel and 2 statues were obvious to anyone whose eyes were in working order. At 15 feet high, the statue of Jesus was a beauty to behold especially when you consider the fact that it was hewn out of one the rarest & most expensive gems on earth: musgravite. The smile on the face of Jesus’ statue always brings a smile on the face of whoever beholds it.

Suddenly, Joash bursted out in heavenly excitement and shouted at the top of his voice HALLELUJAH. For what seemed to be approximately 90 seconds, he started dancing sporadically to music that seemed to be only heard by him. I was used to such sporadic expression of Joy. As he finished dancing, I moved over to where he was standing beside John and asked "HOW MANY & WHERE?"

Apparently every angel had been programmed to sense & rejoice whenever someone on earth gives their life to Christ (by accepting him as Lord & Saviour). They also seemed to know the location where this monumental miracle occurs.

"25 people in Ankara, Turkey."

Everyone of us shouted "Hallelujah" and raised our hands to heaven with one accord. Judging by the number of people, it must have been at a church program that was currently holding in the Northeastern part of Turkey. Glory to God in the highest.

Time Stamp: 11:25pm Jerusalem Time.

It was at that very moment that I simultaneously came to the realization of how beautiful the hotel we just entered was. I had heard of the beauty of such an edifice. I had passed the entrance of its gates countless times. I had admired it from afar. But this was the first time I will be lodging in the most beautiful hotel on planet earth. Located at the centre of about 6 hectares of land, the New Gate Hotel was an edifice made entirely from one of the most precious gems on earth: DIAMOND.

The Day I Shot Jesus: Chapter 4

I would eventually meet the only lady among the welcoming ambassadors Jesus had sent to greet me. I smiled. I had known her longer than any of the other men I had just greeted. I met her in Lagos over 120 years ago. She waved her SILT K5 camera at me and muttered the words "I got one too". With a warm hug that seemed to last longer than the one I gave John, she muttered "My Father, my Father". And with a kiss to her forehead, I told Tosin I had missed her so much.

She held on to my hand the way my daughter Ebenezer would hold me when she was 2 years old. Come to think of it, it just occurred to me that I had not put a call through to my daughter to let her know I arrived safely. I pleaded with John the beloved to give me 1 minute to quickly tell Ebenezer I had arrived safely in Jerusalem.

Though 124 years old, Ebenezer sounded young and vibrant on the phone. She was still in her innocent years when the Rapture had happened and was one of the millions of children that disappeared in the fraction of a second. That singular event would go down on record as the most catastrophic "unexplainable" event that caused monumental havoc in every single city on the planet. Little did the inhabitants of earth know that it was not just explainable, more catastrophic scenarios were about to unfold within the 84+ months to follow. Less than 20% of those left behind will live to see the Lord’s triumphant return. Ebenezer would eventually return with the millions of angels that escorted Jesus on His return.

How is Cyprus, I quizzed. "Hope the kids are not too much of a trouble this semester?" 53 years earlier, Ebenezer had started a music & dance school at the leading of the Lord in the city of Nicosia. Heavily affected by the plagues & wars of the tribulation period, Cyprus had reduced from a population of over 1.8 million people to a nation of less than 115,000 at the Lord’s return. The island was one of those terribly affected when a star – Wormwood – fell from outer space and leveled some islands.

Ebenezer’s ministry was part part of the Lord’s plan rebuild the nation. We exchanged Greetings in Cypriot Greek and I promised to give her the full gist once I was done with Jesus’ shoot. Her last words before we ended the call was "there’s a BIG surprise Jesus is planning for you and He’s so excited about the shoot." What could this surprise be? I wondered.

The time is 11:17pm. I had kept the entourage of 22 waiting for longer than I planned. I apologized to them but their excitement at my presence seemed to eliminate any potential for them to get angry at whatever I do. With Folu on my right side and John on my left, we proceeded to enter the lounge of the first 10 star 180-storey hotel on earth.

The Day I Shot Jesus: Chapter 3

I shed a few tears.

"Is my boss emotional again?" Folu queried. I turned to look at him only to see that he was already handing me an handkerchief. He had worked with me on different assignments for over 29 years and had gotten used to my emotional tendencies which were usually triggered when I thought of the goodness of the Lord. He had also come a long way in the service of the Master. Although he was one of the most revered pastors in Africa, Folu had missed the rapture.

Folu had been the pastor of a church with 8 million+ members and 387 branches worldwide. Majority of the church members that were left behind after the rapture were a little surprised that their Shepherd "missed" the trumpet call. However, It wasn’t a surprise to Folu. In 2013, his wife had an affair with a "caring" choir member and although they resolved the marital differences between each other, Folu never found it in his heart to forgive his wife. For years he was bitter in his heart towards her (though no one knew), and this would eventually lead to his being left behind. He immediately repented after the rapture and had to witness the first 65 months of the 7 years Tribulation he had once preached about. The forces of the United Army will eventually capture him for refusing to denounce Christ as Lord. He was beheaded on global television and showcased as an example to those who refused to pledge allegiance to the new world dictator. He eventually joined us in heaven and was among the forefront host of heaven that rode down on horses for the the biggest battle in human history.

Here we were sitting beside each other heading to shoot the One whose love had brought us together. Though he was still pastoring a church in the new Millennium, he had met me in 2117 and told me he felt led to assist me in my photography mission trips. 29 years after working together, here we were on our way shoot the very One who called us into MINISTRY.

We arrived at the prestigious New Gate Hotel in downtown Jerusalem and to my surprise was greeted with a host of about 22 people. The leader of the entourage opened the door for me to come out of the car and I was surprised at the gesture.

It was at that moment I realized how important a task I had been entrusted with. When His Royal Majesty sends one of his closest friends on earth to meet you at the hotel, consider yourself honoured. It was the 3rd time I would be meeting John the beloved. We hugged one another for what seemed to be forever and I thanked him for taking out time out of his busy schedule to welcome me. "When Jesus told me you were coming to give him a session, I quickly volunteered to be the leader of those that will meet you," he said. The last time we met was at the Apostles’ Convention in 2136. I had been privileged to photograph the event. I remember being blessed by the musical ministrations of Nathaniel Bassey, Kirk Franklin and Angela Walters. The poetry recitation of Thomas Dexter Jakes sent emotional goose bumps all over my heavenly body. I didn’t know we would meet in the same city just a year later.

After hugging John, I was greeted by a few great men whose name coincidentally started with J. It was as if Jesus was trying to appeal to the poetic part of Seun Akisanmi by sending powerful people whose name began with J to welcome me. Jeremiah was the first to greet me after my eternity hug with John. James the son of Zebedee and Jude followed suit. I was quickly reminded of their love for the Gospel when I hugged Jude. Jude was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Christ while James was beheaded (over 2000 years ago) in the same city he was meeting with me.

One person stood out of the crowd perhaps because he was the tallest. Joash was a dark-skinned angel that had been assigned to guard & protect John wherever he went. I had met him in heaven before the Lord returned to rule the earth and I remember being surprised to see an angel with dark skin and dreadlocks.

"Whats up Seun," he greeted. We shook hands like 2 gangsters who had been away from one another for a while. His hug would eventually lift me off the ground and that seemed to send a wave of laughter to everyone watching.

The Day I Shot Jesus: Chapter 2

"Phone call for you sir," Folu interrupted. It was the makeup artist. She was wondering why we are yet to get to the hotel. "Don’t worry Ofure, we’ll be there in 6 minutes." I dropped the call and hurriedly boarded the David OXY 2.1 luxurious car that had been sent to pick us up. Ever since 2014 when Israel developed a car that could run on "air" as fuel, the technology had been refined and improved upon. Not only do we now have cars that can run on "air" as fuel, we now had cars that run on "water" as a fuel system. What made the David OXY 2.1 unique was the fact that it was the first car that not only uses water as a fuel mechanism; the waste product from its emission system was oxygen. Now we had cars that worked like trees in the sense that they emitted oxygen as waste, a waste that is essential to human survival.

Beeeeeeeeep!!!

My battery alarm on my transparent flexi-phone just alerted me. I quickly placed my thumbnail on the charging point situated at the back of the phone to charge it with the electricity that my body released. 2 minutes later, my Carol 6u phone was charged and ready to work for another 8 weeks.

I checked the time. It was 11pm. But yet the sky was as bright as daylight. This was one of the scientific phenomenon that the world had experienced since Jesus returned to rule the earth decades earlier. Prior to his return, the dictionary definition of night was basically "the period of darkness in each twenty-four hours". After His return, the definition of night was simply "the time from sunset to sunrise". This was because even when the sun had set, the glory that emanated from Jesus was enough to literally light up the world, a phenomenon that seemed to counter scientific logic.

So here I was in the back seat of my driverless David OXY 2.1 looking outside the window as if trying to spot the exact source of the illumination of the sky. I was looking for the star that was illuminating the earth at an hour that ought to have been considered "dark". It occurred to me that the star wasn’t in the sky, it was in Jerusalem and I was on my way to His palace later in the "night" to shoot him. I felt a million goose pimples shoot through my body.

I never realized my dream could come true. Never. But then He had kept to his word when He told me to "Ask & you shall receive". In 2013 I had prayed for the opportunity to photograph him in a session when He returned to earth. It was one of those prayers I had said without 100% faith in my heart that he would grant my request. Little did I know that my request had been noted in the records in Heaven. 124 years later, the the physical manifestation of my request was being made manifest.

I shed a few tear.

"Is my boss emotional again," Folu queried. I turned to look at him only to see that he was already handing me an handkerchief. The Day I Shot Jesus: Chapter 1

10 MINUTES TO OUR FINAL DESTINATION.” The Captain’s voice made me a little nervous. I had boarded the underground oceanic train that ran across the New Atlantic Ocean. The sight was unbelievable. Who would have thought that an underground train from New York to Israel via the ocean will be feasible. The year was 2137 and I had been commissioned to provide portraits of His Royal Majesty, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ.

He had seen a portrait I did for prophet Jeremiah & Adam in the year 2136 and had been intrigued. He decided he was due for another session. The last time He had a photo shoot was in 2092 in Israel. I would be the 3rd human being (1st African) to give His Royal Majesty a session. How would I go about it. I wondered what specifically intrigued him about Jeremiah and Adam’s pictures. What a honor indeed it would be to carve a portrait for the one that created my being. Almost as if he could hear my thoughts, he interrupted: PEACE. Suddenly I had this overwhelming peace and confidence that this was indeed one of the reasons he had created me…..for such a session. It would be a session after which the world would see another side of Jesus that they had not seen. More importantly, this would be the first portrait that would be taken by a man and exhibited in the Lord’s Temple in Heaven. What a privilege.

We passed Jerusalem Institute of Technology and I realized I had just 2 more minutes to the underground train’s final destination. I took a last glance at the last portrait that Jesus took. Though blind & crippled in his pre-rapture life, Sou was able to get a portrait of Jesus laughing his heart out. You could see from the picture that the photographer had really said or done something that made the King of Earth burst out in laughter while simultaneously using his hands to cover his eyes. I looked at the scar on His hand. He didn’t have to go to the Cross but I’m glad he did. The picture had gone viral and was still considered the most downloaded “real” picture of Jesus in Human history. Who would have thought Jesus could laugh like that.

I turned to my assistant, Folu, and asked if all was good to go. He replied in the affirmative. He confirmed that the makeup artist had arrived at the New Gate Hotel in Jerusalem. Considered the headquarters of the world, Jerusalem had blossomed (in all spheres) in the last few decades as a result of the physical presence of Jesus.

I took another glimpse of my camera before getting off the train. I had just purchased the new SILT K5 which came with a whopping 2.16 zettapixels image sensor. A picture taken with this baby will result in over 2 billion trillion pixels if I take time to count. That should be enough to document the session. I felt fulfilled knowing that the camera’s first assignment would be to snap the creator of the universe. I smiled.

“Phone call for you sir,” Folu interrupted. It was the makeup artist. She was wondering why we are yet to get to the hotel. “Don’t worry Ofure, we’ll be there in 6 minutes.” I dropped the call and hurriedly boarded the…..
