The ICED Friendship & the PRINCE’S Photoshoot

“Pelumi, you will be going to Ogba to print out complimentary cards, Emmanuel and Mr. Olaide will be painting the toilet, Kayode will go to Ikeja to get a back drop, Basirat go and withdraw and transfer money to pay some of our creditors.” These were duties assigned to us by Mr. Seun Akisanmi for the preparation of a celebrity photo-shoot. The mood and expectations of everyone during the week was high as we were all looking forward to meeting the celebrity called Ice Prince.

Each day of the week was spent doing one chore or the other as a good impression to be made in order to increase patronization.
Amidst all these preparation brought a huge disagreement between me and a close friend at work. It was a little issue that became a big issue which led to us ignoring each other for a while all because we were yet to fully understand each other’s attitude.

Personally I tend to wonder the kind of person I have become of late which is quite different from the way I was but I got a reality check from a colleague whom we were often paired together later and I realized that accepting people for who they are is the best way to live peacefully. I blamed myself for whatever happened that led to the disagreement because the later is too much of a jovial person to get pissed at. I eventually called him and apologized which he also reciprocated.

So the week ended with the anticipated photo-shoot which occurred both at the studio and Weston hotel in Ikeja. The studio was already set before the arrival of the celebrity and a mini shoot was done as practice to ensure the capture of very good images and it was during this point I discovered I still have a long a way to go because Mr. Seun and his Assistance Dr. Femi Adewuyi were trying effortlessly to ensure they get the perfect light for the shoot.

The celebrity arrived late and immediately the atmosphere changed. Every trainee was eager to know what was happening at the studio as it was filled with the celebrities’ convoy but with all that we were all able to see the celebrity before he departed for the next shooting spot.

I was never a huge fan but just wanted to experience how a photo-shoot with a celebrity occurs and fortunately I was lucky to ask first to tag along with the crew on their trip to the next site for the shoot which was at Weston hotel. A room and a bar were used as a set for the shoot which went well asides from a slight hitch due to the imaginary demands of the stylist but was easily solved with patience on the side of Mr. Seun.

I was able to get some behind the scene shots of the entire crew during the shoot and felt good about it even if they weren’t perfect enough images.

My name is Ajagbe Basirat and I’m on journey to become the best professional female photographer I can be. Here are a few pictures I took during the last 7 days.
